Moving forward...

So I figured I might try to actually write some blog posts about where I'm at with things, and what I'm working on and inspired by.

The modern calligraphy classes have been going really well, and I'm looking forward to the Christmas classes on the 3rd and the 10th of December, which should be a fairly cosy affair in Cushion and Cake complete with festive treats and tunes.

I'm resisting the urge to think about Christmas too much at this stage. Its been a difficult few months what with some family ill health and I think Christmas will be tinged with mixed emotions (as I often find it is).

As much as I love the festive season and enjoy creating and giving gifts, and celebrating with loved ones, I think there's often a slight feeling of "whats this all about" and its important to realise that in reality not everyones Christmas is picture perfect, complete with heaps of kids running around in a gorgeous house dripping with Christmas decor.

In these days of sharing everything on  Facebook / Instagram/ general social media,- its hard not to compare yourself to others. But rest assured no ones life is perfect - we all have our ups and downs and the important thing I try to remember is above all else try and be nice to other people, but indeed also to yourself.  For me personally, I finally feel I'm coming into my own with my calligraphy and photography. I might not live in a huge house with my gorgeous husband and 10 kids and cook vegan organic meals everynight, but I'm working full time, trying to establish a business for myself and say yes to as many opportunities as I can.

Its a bit early to be setting New Years resolutions (and they're really not my style anyway), but moving forward I'm taking on more food and styling related photography projects, and hope to shoot at a few weddings in the near future. I also have some new plans for my classes including a love letters/ letters of love inspired class in the lead up to Valentines Day. I have some exciting projects coming up including development of some calligraphy prints and stationery and I'm so chuffed to have found the lovely Braw Brides and so pleased they've asked me to join their group.

With all that in mind I want to give myself a pat on the back - (just a little one mind you - I am Scottish). I've finally found through my calligraphy and photography a way to express myself and work creatively. My approach and style is ever evolving and I'm as ever always keen to learn and challenge myself so watch out for some veggie inspired meals coming soon!
